uprooting

Well, it is now official... I have just handed in my notice to my landlord and will be moving by July 1st. I should have made this decision some time ago, because living in this tiny apartment has become increasingly frustrating for a number of reasons.

Due to a heavy workload, I have yet to start my search for a new home. While part of me is excited at the prospect, I am not looking forward to dealing with the stress involved in this process all on my own. To add to this, there is a nagging fear that my wishes (though modest) may be entirely unrealistic, and that the apartment I dream of simply does not exist...

5 little note(s):

I love living alone, but now and then, it's hard - moving house is one of those times. You have my sympathy. Good luck finding a new home that suits you better!

Wishing you ease and delight in your search. May the flat that will fulfill every one of your wishes (including the ones that are buried so deep in your heart that they haven't bubbled up to your conscious brain) reveal itself to you soon. It *is* out there, waiting for you, dreaming of being your (and RD's, of course!) sweet home.

Si tu veux de la compagnie pour la recherche, fais-moi signe et je verrai si je peux faire le voyage. Si oui, ça me fera plaisir de t'aider!

Thanks Rachel, I know you know exactly how stressful this can be...

Josiane, from your lips to God's ear! C'est gentil de m'offrir ta compagnie - en fait c'est surtout l'empaquetage et le déménagement lui-même qui me stresse! Surtout que je suis le genre à imaginer le pire et à me mettre l'estomac à l'envers...

Amazingly, somehow things just seem to work out. I wasn't thrilled with this house when I bought it, except for it's proximity to my sister's family. It was just OK. Now, I love it and, although I could afford to move somewhere "nicer," choose to stay here.

But, your moving distress resonates. I have decided the next time I move will be the last time. I've got my retirement digs all scoped out!

If you can swing it, I have several friends who say they will never move themselves again - they say hiring a company to come in and pack and move is worth every penny. Guess I should start to save my pennies now!

Oh dear, I can't imagine letting anyone else pack my things! Not that I have anything to hide, but I'm such a private person... I can see how hiring someone to take care of all of that can be a great load off one's mind, though.
